Authorial vision
Flávio R. Tambellini has been directing since the late 1980s, beginning with Paraty, Mistérios in 1989. He founded Tambellini Filmes, a Rio de Janeiro–based production company that has been active for more than forty years, where he also produced landmark Brazilian films such as Carandiru and Foreign Land (Terra Estrangeira).
In 2000, he directed Bufo & Spallanzani, which won Best Film at the Gramado Film Festival and was nominated for the Crystal Lens Award at the Brazilian Film Festival of Miami. He also directed O Passageiro, Segredos de Adulto in 2005, Malu de Bicicleta in 2010, and A Glória e a Graça in 2017.
For television, he directed an episode of HBO’s Carnaval, produced in partnership with O2 Filmes, as well as the documentary series Diretores de Arte for Canal Curta, which was a finalist for Best Documentary Series at the 2024 Grande Otelo Awards.
